There are a lot of instructions on the internet on making your own stamps. Some are really simple, some a bit more complicated. Today I tried one out: making a stamp out of an eraser.
What do you need:
- Eraser (someone once gave me fashion accessory shaped erasers, I used the purse shaped one today)
- Linoleum cutter set (or a small sharp knife, please promise to leave your fingers attached)
- Pencil/pen (for drawing on the design, or just freestyle if you like)
What to do:
Make a drawing on the eraser, something simple works best. Keep in mind that your drawing will end up the other way around when stamped, so mirror the image (this is especially important if you want to use text).
Now take out your linoleum cutter or knife and start cutting away the the parts you don’t need. Remember: what stays will be inked, what is removed won’t.
Done? You now have your very own stamp. Try it out!
(I’ll need some practice, but it’s not bad for a first try right?)
